RABAT : Malta's old capital city

The Catacombs: Rabat has the outstanding Catacombs of St. Paul and St. Agatha. These were used in Roman circumstances to let the dead go, as the Romans thought it unhygienic to cover the dead in the city. Domvs Romana (Roman Villa) : The Domvs Romana has the remaining parts of a significant townhouse that has superb mosaics found in the Peristyle and the encompassing rooms. The mosaic asphalts rank among the finest and most antiquated mosaic sytheses in the western Mediterranean, alongside those of Pompeii and Sicily. St. Paul's Grotto : During the Roman lead, the city of 'Melita' reached out up to the Parish Church of St. Paul. The discard encompassing the city was brimming with caverns that were used as graves by the occupants.
